Monochrome

The Monochrome Sessions – July 12-14 – Culver City

Why I’m Doing This

I’m opening up three days to shoot black and white studio portraits in LA. Clean light, white cyc, a couple looks per session. No gimmicks. Just an honest frame that hits.

I’ve been working in solitude for months. The world no deja de chingar with the constant bad news. Working at a desk every day trying to drown out the crazy outside is its own special kind of exhausting.

This weekend is a reset. A reminder that making something with someone, lighting a scene, finding a frame, and getting a little weird in front of the camera is still one of the most joyful things I get to do.

I’m calling these the Monochrome Sessions because, honestly, black and white makes everything feel a little simpler. I’m sure I’m not the only one that needs a little of that right now.

This isn’t about chasing a “perfect” photo. I want to capture something real. Something simple. Something that feels like you at your most grounded, or most bold, or most present. Whatever that means on the day.

I don’t do these sessions often. Usually I’m either on set or on Zoom calls. So this is my version of stepping outside and making something that feels good, for its own sake.

If that hits, I’d love to shoot you.

Who It’s For

This is for artists, professionals, multi-hyphenates, legends in the making, and anyone who’s overdue for a photo that actually feels like them.

It’s for people who’ve been putting it off. People who’ve changed a lot in the last few years. People who want a portrait that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.

It’s for folks who never get in front of the camera. It’s for the ones who live there, but want something different.

It’s for your mom. Your creative partner. Your cousin visiting from El Salvador. Your abuela who deserves to be documented like the icon she is.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to book a session, this is it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Keep it simple—solid tones, textured fabrics, and pieces that feel like you. Avoid loud patterns or neon, and lean into natural materials that play well with light. Bring 1–2 options if you’re unsure, and we’ll decide together.

[See the full wardrobe guide here.]

Can I bring a friend or family member?

Absolutely. Whether it’s moral support or they’re also being photographed, just let me know ahead of time. If they want their own portrait, book them a slot or we can add them on.

Can I book a session for someone else?

Yes—just use your info to book the session, and let me know who the actual subject will be in the booking notes.

How will I get my photos?

You’ll receive an online gallery of unretouched selects. From there, you’ll choose your final images to be retouched and delivered as high-res JPGs.

Do you shoot in color too?

This weekend is dedicated to black & white photography only. It keeps the vibe consistent and intentional—and that’s part of the magic.

What if I need to cancel?

Deposits are non-refundable if canceled within 48 hours of your session. If something comes up earlier than that, reach out and we’ll try to reschedule.
